M56 is a globular cluster found in the constellation Lyra.

This image is one of my first attempts to use an EL panel to generate flat files. Flats are calibration images taken against a luminous object for the purpose of removing dust motes and correcting for uneven illumination across the field. One method is to use a white t-shirt over the telescope and take an image of the brightening sky in tbe morning. But the sky changes quickly so its difficult to get good, even flats this way. So, I obtained some EL panels and tried them instead of relying on the sky. Seems to work pretty good so far.
