HK Lyrae is the deep red star located in the middle of this image.
HK Lyrae has an apparent visual magnitude of 7.65 and a spectral type of C-N5. This means it is a deep red colored carbon star, but it is not quite bright enough to be seen without a telescope. Howver, it can ean easily be observed even with a small telescope and is well worth looking at if you get the chance.
The distance from Earth to this star is estimtated to be 985.0276 parsecs (3212.73 light years).
HK Lyrae has long been known as a deep red star and it was included in the 1899 study titled On the spectra of stars of class IIIb. (Duner N. C.).
