UU Auriage is a carbon star located in the Auriga constellation
UU Aurigae is the bright red star in the center of the image. This is one of the brighter carbon stars visible in the northern hemisphere. It is well worth observing visually and can be easily seen in a small telescope.
This star is listed in SIMBAD as being a semiregular variable of type SRb which means that it is a giant star that whose size changes over time. The visual magnitude varies from 4.9 to 7.0 over a period of 441 days. The spectral type of UU Aurigae is C-N5- and visually it is a carbon red colored star.
