UX Draconis is a carbon star located in the Draco constellation.

UX Draconis is the red star located in the middle of the image. UX Dra is a variable carbon star of spectral type C-N5. The magnitude varies from a maximum of 5.94 to it's dimmest at 6.54 over an uncertain variable period with a nominal value of 168 days.

Although UX Draconis is fairly faint at an average magnitude of 6.22, it can be seen with the naked eye from a dark site. However, this is very near the detection limit of the human eye, which is roughly magnitude 6.5. From populated centers with even moderate amounts of light pollution, a telescope is still needed to view UX Draconis.
