V623 Cassiopeiae is the small red star in the center of the image.

V623 Cas has spectral type C-J4 which means it is a cool carbon star with a high content of carbon-13. The visual magnitude of V623 Cassiopeiae is 8.59. This is too faint for the unaided human eye, and a telescope or good pair of binoculars is needed to visually observe it.

The star is estimated as being 564.8122 parsecs away, which is around 1842.171 light years from Earth.
