1 Lacertae is a variable star located in the Lacerta constellation
1 Lacertae
(1 Lac) is the bright orange star in the middle of the image. It is listed in SIMBAD as a variable star and has a spectral type K3-II-III. Visually, it is observed to be a bright red and is a primary star in the constellation.
1 Lacertae is magnitude 4.15 and is visible to the naked eye. A telescope is not required to view this star. The star is 171.0337 parsecs from us which means it is roughly 557.8373 light years away. This makes it one of the closer stars to us relative to most other stars in our galaxy.
